EDUCATIONAL AND ISLAMIC LEARNING SERVICES
The Sunday School is a free service for all children in the community between 5 and 18 years old. The school runs on Sunday from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm.
The school focuses on teaching the children Arabic, Qura’an, and Islamic Studies in a friendly environment. The students are divided into different levels based on their knowledge and age. There are 3 periods with a snack break after the second period (around 12:00 noon). The teachers are volunteers from the community. All teachings are done in the Islamic Center. The breaks are conducted in the Gym of the Islamic Center where the children usually play soccer and/or basketball during the break.
In addition to the classes, the school arranges for essay and verbal competitions among the members of the community during the Islamic events (e.g., birthday of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)). Moreover, there are other activities for the students including visits to attractions in the Cities of Monroe and West Monroe. We also arrange for Science Presentations conducted by students and faculty from the University of Louisiana at Monroe.
